Warrior Adrenaline Race

On Saturday I took part in my first W.A.R. obstacle race event. Held in Dunstable Downs the course was set to have intense obstacles from start to finish with two killer hills in the middle! This is one of the few obstacle races out there offering prize money adding an extra incentive to cross the line first.

The race started at a very fast pace but it soon died down when we were instructed to carry a weighted rucksack up a small hill. Other obstacles included barbed wire crawls, zip wire, (big) hill climbs, cargo nets, the best web I have ever been through and full head submersion in cold water (it was very cold). I have been feeling quite tired from training and racing lately with relatively little rest in between intense workouts but managed to keep a good pace. This resulted in me crossing the line first in roughly 41 minutes.

The hills definitely made me think about the Red Bull Steeplechase coming up next weekend (with 1400m of climb) and how I will need to rest up if I am going to make it round this very challenging course in the Peak District…
